economic freedomHaving a free market means economic freedom. Consumers can purchase what they want when they want it. Businesses can produce what they want how they want to. Consumers and businesses do not have to worry about government intervention. If consumers want to solve problems, they can join interest groups. Interest groups try to persuade government officials to vote in favor of the group. Voluntary exchange allows for the freedom of who and how people want to sell their products or services.
PROTECTIONThe Constitution established property rights, meaning citizens have guaranteed protection of property. Citizen's property cannot be taken from them by the government without just reasoning.
It also guarantees people binding contracts. The Constitution also protects citizens from ways the government can tax individuals and businesses. These protections allow citizens to be able to create successful businesses and achieve the American Dream. |
EQUALITYDespite the class a citizen is born into, they have the opportunity to do anything. The free market allows anyone to be an entrepreneur and make money to ultimately raise your economic status. Anyone can easily start their own business and offer a service or product they think consumers will want. Everyone, despite race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, etc., can start a business and achieve their goals and dreams. This is known as open opportunity.
OPTIONSAmerican consumers have almost unlimited options. Because consumers control the economy, they have options to buy what they want, when they want it. Because of America's mixed economy, that is mostly free market, the government plays a limited roll, leaving the economy in the hands of the consumers.
